My name is Amanda Walker, and I am currently in my seventh year here at White Oak as a kindergarten teacher. I love this age because they learn SO much from August to May. It never gets old sharing the experience with students as they learn to read and write for the first time. My responsibilities not only include teaching reading and writing, but also: what it means to show kindness, use self-control, show respect to peers and adults, work with diligence, among many other character traits to form them into successful learners here at White Oak.
I have been married to my husband, Christopher, for 7 years and we have a daughter named Olivia. Christopher and I both graduated from White Oak in 1998 and plan on raising our children here and putting them through the White Oak school system. I fully believe in everything White Oak stands for and has to offer our students.
After we graduated, Christopher and I ended up at Texas Tech University in Lubbock where I graduated with my Early Childhood Degree. GO RED RAIDERS! 🙂
My Favorite Things:
When I am not teaching I enjoy watching movies, we keep Hastings busy on the weekends. We don’t GO to the movies as much due to having a baby, but we do enjoy it when we get a chance to get out alone. What girl doesn’t like shopping?……I do my share of that too when I get out and about. I frequent Trendy Chicks when I get a chance. I like to cook but some days it’s just easier to go out. We usually end up at Chili’s, Wing Stop, Outback, or Papacita’s. My favorite candy is any that has a combination of chocolate and toffee. Last, when I get a chance to pamper myself, I choose to run and get a pedicure here in White Oak.
